What is an image palette generator?

Frequently asked questions

1How do I get colors from a picture?
Click the camera icon and upload (JPG, PNG, GIF, WebP), drag & drop, paste from clipboard, or load via URL. The palette extracts automatically above the preview. Click any swatch to copy its HEX.
2How many colors can I extract? What is the best count?
1 to 10 with the −/+ controls (starts at 8 for photos). Use 2–3 for minimal logos, 4–6 for web pages and social graphics, 8–10 for illustration and mood boards. Fewer colors give a clearer system. Photos often contain many near-identical browns or blues.
3Can I edit, remove or reorder the palette?
Yes. Hover any swatch to copy, × to remove, drag to reorder (order flows into CSS export). For design work pick a dark for text, a light for backgrounds, one or two brand colors and one accent.
4What should I hand off to a developer from a photo palette?
Set Copy as to the format your build uses: HEX for stylesheets, RGB for app code, HSL for theming, CSS vars for tokens. The download popup exports the same photo palette as a TXT stylesheet, SVG strip or labeled PNG.
5Do my photos leave my device? What does it cost?
Never. Your photos are read pixel-by-pixel inside this tab and never sent anywhere, so client work stays confidential. And it costs nothing: free forever, no account, as many photos as you like.
6How do I switch to the random generator?
